Thermal Insulation Coating for Glasses

Introduction

Powerpeg introduces advanced glass coatings, engineered in Japan, that block heat, UV rays, and infrared radiation to deliver year-round comfort and superior indoor protection. This innovative solution utilizes patented technology to form a uniform, transparent layer of conductive metal oxide via a precision spray application. The result is a high-performance barrier that efficiently blocks IR and UV rays while maintaining exceptional visible light transmission.

In the summer, it keeps interiors cooler by blocking incoming solar heat (infrared rays). Conversely, during colder months, it retains indoor heat and minimizes heat loss to the outside, keeping rooms warmer and reducing dew condensation.

Features

Key Benefits

1. 90% UV Protection
  • The coating blocks approximately 90% of ultraviolet rays, protecting your skin while reducing the fading and deterioration of interior materials caused by sunlight.
2. ~85% Visible Light Transmission
  • With a visible light transmission of approximately 85%, the coating has a minimal impact on the exterior appearance of the building or the natural brightness of the interior.
3. 70% Infrared Ray Rejection
  • The coating blocks about 70% of heat-producing infrared rays, helping to reduce energy consumption and lower CO2 emissions in both homes and offices.
4. Significant Energy Savings
  • In winter, areas near windows often feel cold due to radiant heat loss, even in warm rooms. This coating allows the glass to absorb the room's far-infrared heat, reducing the "cold-radiation" effect and lowering overall heating costs.
5. Long-Lasting Durability (>10 Years)
  • Designed to resist heat cracking and scratches, this coating remains effective for over 10 years—offering a much longer lifespan than traditional film-type products that require regular reapplication.
6. Versatile & Easy Application
  • The coating is simple to apply and works on glass surfaces unsuitable for standard film, including wire glass, curved glass, oversized panels, and frosted glass, for both interior and exterior use.

How It Works

Temperature Comparison: Coated vs. Uncoated Thermal Insulating Glass

This demonstration illustrates the ambient temperature differences between glass treated with our thermal coating and standard transparent glass.

Test Results:

  • Uncoated Glass: Showed an ambient temperature increase from 23.6°C to 40.1°C.
  • Coated Glass: Exhibited a significantly lower rise, from 22.9°C to 30.7°C.
  • Conclusion: The coated glass effectively blocks heat from sources like light bulbs, keeping interiors cooler in hot conditions.

Technical Notes:

  • 3mm glass was used for this demonstration.
  • Performance and results may vary based on the thickness of the glass used.

Disclaimer: The demonstration is provided for illustrative purposes only. Actual results may vary depending on individual circumstances, the operating environment, usage conditions, and other external factors.

Use Case (in Japan)

Approximately 4,700 m² of glass coating was applied to the National Art Center, Tokyo, resulting in yearly energy savings of 2,198,323 kWh.
